The Millers Mills Ice Cream Social is a step back in time .
. . to yesteryear . . . when nearly everything was homemade . . . especially
ICE CREAM!
The Millers Mills Grange # 581 Homemade Ice Cream Social is
always held on the third Sunday in July at the Millers Mills Grange Hall.
Events begin at 10:30 a.m. Bring your own chair to sit back and enjoy it all!
Each year we hold a 5K Road Race and
two mile fun walk. We have a Crosscut Saw Contest to try your hand at
(no professional log men here!). The Eastern Regional Draft Horse Association
will be providing horse drawn hayrides.
There will also be a bazaar by the Community Baptist Church
of Millers Mills. (Our church service begins at a special time this day – 9:00
a.m.) Music can be enjoyed by artist Brian Dickenson. Noted local wildlife
photographer Monte Loomis will be there displaying recent work, as well as noted
local artist Jim Parker, with his folk art of local communities. You can
purchase t-shirts, caps and bags by local designer Allen Hills.
Come and enjoy all this and homemade ice cream as well as
other refreshments. The recipe of our grandmothers for ice cream (frozen
custard) makes this a special treat. In 1983 Charles Kuralt came to Millers
Mills to the Ice Cream Social for his show “On The Road”. That clip can still
be seen today from time to time on the Travel Channel.
Parking and admission are free. Parking is located off
Jordanville-Cedarville Road. Watch for signs. Come for a good old fashioned
day! For more information, call Grange
Master, Judy Guske.
